The simplicity of the architecture, brilliant blue sky, bright sunlight, white walls, the ladder to the rooftop, and shadows combine to make this one of my best-selling photographs. Only one gelatin silver print left! 

During a 1984 trip to Yugoslavia, Italy, and Greece, I visited the Greek island of Patmos. After walking to the Monastery of St. John the Divine, I viewed the rock grotto where John lived and prayed when he cognized the Book of Revelations, and then returned to the monastery to take this photo.
